The Communication and Media Research Institute

Presentation of the Institute of Communication and Media Research in Cluj

The Institute of Communication and Media Research of Cluj was established in 2010 by the Medea Association, in order to join the work of researchers with a degree in media and communication studies from the Hungarology Doctoral School. Its objectives are immediate as well as distant: a) the analysis of the system of Hungarian media in Romania, b) writing the history of the Hungarian press in Transylvania (from the beginnings until today).

The institute publishes a quarterly journal of media studies entitled Me.dok, and a series of collections of studies of the Media Studies Workshop of Cluj.

The research and the publications of the institute are funded through successful applications to Communitas Foundation and the Bethlen Gábor Fund.
